AI & Your Data

We use Artificial Intelligence to provide health insights. We do NOT use your personal data to train public AI models. Your data is processed securely and is only used to serve you.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: Email address, name, and authentication data (via Supabase).
Pet Health Data: Names, breeds, ages, medical records, vaccinations, and notes you enter.
Usage Data: App interactions, feature usage, and error logs (via PostHog).
Subscription Data: Purchase history and subscription status (via RevenueCat). We do not store credit card numbers.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to provide and improve the VetVault service:

To store and organize your pet's health records.
To provide AI-powered health insights and recommendations.
To sync your data across devices.
To process subscriptions and payments.

3. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data:

Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS) and at rest (AES-256).
Access Control: Strict authentication protocols prevent unauthorized access.
Audits: Regular security reviews of our infrastructure.

4. Third-Party Processors

We partner with trusted third-party providers to deliver our services. They process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements:

Google (Gemini API) (AI Processing)
RevenueCat (Subscriptions)
PostHog (Analytics & Error Tracking)

5. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary:

Account Data: Retained for the lifetime of your account.
Health Records: Retained until you delete them or your account. Deleted accounts have a 90-day recovery window before permanent purging.
AI Chat Logs: Retained for up to 1 year for context and debugging, then anonymized or deleted.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
Correction: Update or correct your data within the app.
Deletion: Request permanent deletion of your account and data.
Export: Download your pet's health records (PDF/CSV).

7. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, such as the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission to ensure your data remains protected when transferred internationally.

8. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, we process your data based on:

Contractual Necessity: To provide the VetVault service to you.
Legitimate Interests: To improve our app and prevent fraud.
Consent: For optional features like marketing emails (which you can opt out of).

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident:

Do Not Sell My Info: We do not sell your personal information.
Right to Know: You can request details about the categories of data we collect.
Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

10. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, please contact us immediately.
